The basic human nature is a little different from the basic animal nature aka animal instincts.
Animals don't have a mind, or whatever little they have it is there for the purpose of keeping their existence intact and their bellies full and that's all as much as they have it.

They are more governed by their instincts than they are governed by their minds.

Now, what's the difference between the two?
There is a funny analogy for that. Instincts are like ROMs genetically hardwired in their biological computers whereas minds are like RAMs that are developed by each one's individual life experiences resulting in different individual mindsets like different programs being run on different computers make their RAMs uniquely differently configured for the time being for every different computer. Run the same program on many different computers and they all will have exactly the same RAMs in their operational structure as well.

It's RAM that gets overloaded (like mind getting stressed) and slows down a computer while in operation and not ROM.
Since animals’ computer is a very primitive one, it works more with ROM than with RAM; and hence, never gets stressed.

Does a human child have a mind when s/he is born?
No, children are more animals than humans but their ROMs are humanly wired!

That's why they have bright eyes on their faces.
